Model School Newsletter

The school will close at 12.10pm on Wednesday 14th February for the children to facilitate staff training in New Child Protection procedures.

Mid-Term Break – the school will be closed two days on Thurs 15th & Fri 16th March.

 

Assembly – Ms. Kearns; Room 2 will host assembly on Thursday 8th at 09.20am.

Credit Union Quiz –Well done to all involved in the recent Credit Union Quiz. We had two teams represent The Model School. With 76 teams across 33 primary schools, the Model School U11 team finished 4th (just two points behind the winning team) and the U13 team finished in 11th place, in their respective competitions. A huge thank you to Mike Hanlon for co-ordinating this event again this year and to all the parents that turned up to support on the night.

Debate Team – congratulations to our Debate Team on their 1st round win. The team are Mark, Molly, Leah, Charlie, Holly & Rebecca. Best of luck in the next round on the 8th Mar.

Kilmainham Gaol trip – 6th class went on an Educational visit to Kilmainham Gaol last week as part of their Irish History studies. It was a very interesting trip and lots of fun.

Barnstorm Theatre Trip – Wed 21st Feb. 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th classes will go to see “Barney Carey Gets His Wings” – a comic tale of forgotten memories and future possibilities. Consent forms will be sent out shortly.

Author visits –To celebrate World Book Day on the 1st March we will have guest authors in school to speak to the children. Please send in €2.00 per child

Natasha and Jeandre received their grade 1 saxophone certificates recently from The Royal Irish Academy of Music. They attend lessons in school with Eamon Cahill.

Easter Sale – Advance Notice

Our annual Easter Sale will be coming up soon. Please bear us in mind if you are doing a clear out of toys (in good condition), books and games and anything else suitable for a children’s sale. Also any donations of Easter Eggs as prizes would be gratefully received.

We would like to congratulate Olwen Mackey on her recent wedding to Ian Brien.

We wish them both lots of happiness.
